I write within the tension of spirituality and culture, politics and theology, existing and emerging forms of church, the Kingdom of God and Empire America, modern and postmodern thought, & the gritty drama that is my pilgrim story.

Hey Meghann,
"now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom” Yes this is a beautiful thing. And I heard an analogy about a prisoner who is in a jail cell that is unlocked and wide open. The prisoner laments the fact he is in jail, but it is by his choice because he can in fact leave!

And the same is true for us. While some of us are still in jail, it is because we have not counted on the fact that we are free...our freedom is a reality in Christ and we just need to get up and leave. Now that does take some work and may take years to crawl out, but our freedom is still a reality.

Thanks for the reminder of 2 Cor. I didn't think of that verse and is a great reminder!

ps-I'm definitely taking u up on your offer of a second rendezvous...

for the longest time, i had just one line of a song stuck in my head...and last night i finally came upon the verse. 2 cor 3: 17..."now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom"...just thought i'd add that, but since you've memorized the entire book...i'm sure you already knew it!

it's been something on my mind for quite a while and ironically you stole the words right from my head! (haha ok, not quite...)
but anyways, i was challenged after last night- i didn't directly ask you what YOU THOUGHT it means to follow Jesus...so at 1:30 in the morning (yes, too much coffee) i went through the book of Matthew and found the "job description" of what Jesus says it means to follow him.
too bad that DC doesn't have that list on their agenda...

God bless~
