A few months ago I wrote about how I launched a sister site to novus•lumen called “The Daily Office at Novus Lumen.” It is a simple, stripped-down version of the historic Christian practice of fixed-hour prayer. I designed it both as an introduction to and as an easily transportable version of this deep, meaningful spiritual discipline

I’ve used it quite a bit myself to center my mornings, afternoons, and evenings throughout the week, so when I went on my mini spiritual retreat at the end of the year I brought my new ipod touch along to practice this spiritual discipline at the home I was staying at. I was pleasantly surprised by how perfect the site looked and performed! It really was the perfect addition to my spiritual retreat and I can imagine it could be very useful for people who travel often, but don’t want to lug around the 1000 page Book of Common Prayers.

So if you are an iPhone or iPod Touch user and are looking for a simple, transportable version of The Daily Office, bookmark either www.thedailyoffice.net or dailyoffice.novuslumen.net\. From the main page you can get more information on the spiritual practice itself and access the specific historic prayers for that day. After clicking “start” you simply choose the day of the week and time of day.

Give it a try and tell me what you think, even if you’re not an iPhone owner!

    That’s very elegant, Jeremy.

What about a button for the home page on an iPhone? This would make it simpler to get to your site rather than having to deal with Safari and bookmarks.
